Every now and then a project comes into the studio that Lomax and I will get giddy about. Whenever there is an email in the inbox from our friends at the Ambler Movie Theater our spines tingle just a bit. For years now I have my senior Graphic Design students design posters for the Retrograde and Children’s programming at the Ambler. Just recently we added their sister location, the Hiway, and assisted with their “Horror at the Hiway” promotion. (Thanks Psey!)
Usually there is a screening or event that I can’t cram into my already jampacked syllabus so Lomax and I will take a (loving) crack at it.
Having designed two posters for Tim Burton flicks has been a dream (or is it nightmare) come true. Taking Lomax’s lovely lettering, my take on Burton’s iconic characters and style, set Photoshop and Illustrator to purée, and voilà – Pretty Creepy Fun!
So far we’ve worked on Beetlejuice and Batman Returns and quite frankly we cannot wait for the next one.
